Mark Hughes admits dream to manage http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
Former Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 manager Mark Hughes, who has since then managed Manchester City and Fulham, revealed his dream to manage English Premier League giants Chelsea one day. While the 47-year-old Welshman began his career with Manchester United, he spent
three years at Stamford Bridge during which time the Blues won the FA Cup, Cup Winners’ Cup and League Cup.
During his time at Chelsea, Hughes made a total of 95 appearances in the English Premier League and scored 25 goals. He left the club in 1998 and after brief spells at Southampton, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 and Blackburn Rovers, began his managerial career. The striker started
with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 national team in 1999 and in 2004 returned to the Rovers as their manager.
While he was linked with replacing Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge in the summer, Guus Hiddink and Andre Villas-Boas were always in the lead. The Blues soon appointed the Portuguese manager to take over from the Italian boss and after a decent start to
his reign at the London club, it seems he will be in charge for the long term. Hughes may have missed his chance for now, but admitted his desire to manage the club one day.
Hughes said on the club’s official website:
“It would be very nice. Chelsea is the club I have a very special affinity for. Obviously I had a fantastic time here as a player.
As a manager you want to test yourself at the very top, so if in the future if it's ever possible for me to work here then I would be absolutely delighted to because it's an outstanding club.”
The former Wales international was criticized after he left his charge at Fulham after just one year for reasons that were not too clear. Hughes said his aim was now to find a club where he could retain his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 as manager for a long term as opposed to short
spells with various clubs. He currently remains unemployed, but is on the look-out for a club.
Hughes revealed:
“I had my reasons for leaving my last post and I just hope that I get an opportunity to get a job in which I can show a bit of longevity because that's what I'm looking for.”
