Mark J Williams throws Jamie Cope out of the 2011 Welsh Open – Snooker news
The Welsh potting machine Mark J Williams has beaten Jamie Cope with a score of four-frames-to-nil in the last 16 at the 2011 Welsh Open.

The local hero previously had also beaten his opponent with the score and this is the second time in a row.
The former world champion and the winner of the German Masters 2011 is looking to have his consecutive second ranking title win in a season and if he does that he will be the first player to do it since Ronnie O’Sullivan in 2003.
In the first frame both players were found struggling for their momentum and many chances were exchanged in between. Williams could not do much damage on getting a few early chances but finally at the end took the opening frame 1-0 with a break of
30.
Second frame was over in a blink of an eye as Williams made a magnificent 108 in it.
The third frame was a scrappy affair as the players had to struggle a lot. Both players got their chances but neither of them was able to avail any. Cope however was given a golden chance in the end when Williams had missed the final brown but the
stroke player could not take the frame and left the black on the pocket playing with the rest, which was dropped in by Williams to lead 3-0.
Jamie Cope was not given any chance to pot in the fourth frame as three quick breaks, 40, 20, 23, from Mark Williams finished the matters off 4-0.
The overall score line was 70-34, 108-0, 54-53, and 83-0.
Williams was happy with his performance in the end but he said that Cope could have won a couple of frames as he was given some good chances but the pressure of being in the top 16, fighting for the last 8, was not letting him play. He also said that
he had all this in his mind and has just utilised it.
Williams had already said before the tournament that the Welsh people have not done justice with the trophy. He also showed his confidence in having it this time after 12 years and now when both Welshmen Matthew Stevens and Mark J Williams are in the
quarter-final, we can hope of having an all-Welsh final.
Mark Williams will now play Stephen Maguire who has beaten Stephen Hendry in the quarter-final.
