The 2012 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee gets high praise from his former Indiana Pacers team-mate, who is now the coach of Golden State Warriors .....
Reggie Miller will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame later this week because of his impressive exploits over the course of his career.
However, while Miller is mostly remembered for his impressive three point shooting and his consistency from long range, the fact that he was one of the best off the ball movers NBA has ever seen, seems miss the attention it deserves.
He can be considered as one of the best shooting guards to play in the NBA and his former Indiana Pacers team-mate Mark Jackson who is currently the head coach with the Golden State Warriors could not agree more.
“When you take Michael Jordan and you take Kobe Bryant out of the discussion, he’s as good as any two-guard that has ever played the game,” Jackson said.
Miller is remembered for his gritty offensive style which majorly involved downplaying his opponents and his rivalry with the New York Knicks during the playoffs is one to remember.
While not only could he shoot the ball but also had a firm grip on handling the ball and could dish out assists as well. However, if a list of the best two guards to ever play in the NBA is to be made, Miller will face stiff competition
even without likes of Jordan and Bryant being considered.
According to Sekou Smith of NBA, the likes of George Gervin, Jerry West, Allen Iverson, Dwyane Wade, Clyde Drexler, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe, Ray Allen, Joe Dumars and “Pistol” Pete Maravich can all be named in a conversation about
the best shooting guards through the league.
But nothing can be taken away from Miller who had a very prestigious career with the Pacers. He made 5 NBA All-star appearances during his career but was unable to win the all elusive championship. But to pay regards to the services
he offered to the Pacers organizations, Miller’s jersey number ’31’ has been retired shortly after his retirement in 2005.
