Mark Joyce outclasses John Higgins, Michael Holt whitewashes Ryan Day in quarter-final: Snooker news
Mark Joyce and Michael Holt have both cruised into the semi-final of the 2011 Pink Ribbon Tournament, as they outplayed John Higgins and Michael Holt by a frame score of 4-2 and 4-0 respectively at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester.

It was an accomplishing performance from Mark Joyce, as he produced high standards of game to see off the reigning world champion and the world number two, John Higgins, with an overall score-line of 14-61, 16-66(59), 20-71, 62-52, 71-28, 14-62.
Though it was a battle of nerves, Joyce showcased his flawless safety skills to come on top. Higgins, who is known as one of the best safety players in the world, could only manage in winning two frames without doing anything outstanding but otherwise it
was Joyce.
The only dominant break of the match came at 59, which came in the second frame from Joyce.
Ryan Day 0-4 Michael Holt
One of the most dominant performance in the quarter-finals came from the defending champion, Michael Holt, as he completely whitewashed the Welsh Dynamite, Ryan Day, by a frame score of 4-0 to secure a place in the semi-final.
The Englishman, Holt, presented a spectacular game for the audience by hitting the only century break in the quarter-final. The overall score-line was 0-67(54), 31-62, 1-60, 36-104.
Holt started off in a straight forward fashion by hitting a modest break of 54 in the opening frame to draw the first blood 1-0. The following second and third frames were scrappy affairs. A bout of safety play was seen among the players but in both frames,
it was Holt who appeared on top to leave his opponent down by three frames with four to play at 3-0.
In the fourth frame, Day was the first one to be among the balls but he lost control of his emotions, breaking down on 36 and when the chance presented itself, Holt killed the match with a dazzling century break of 104.
Meanwhile Michael White and Jimmy Robertson have also cruised into the semi-finals.
