Mark King blows up as Ronnie O’Sullivan pulls out of 2011 Australian Goldfields Open
Many snooker fans were shocked when The Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan pulled out of 2011 Australian Goldfields Open. The decision to withdraw from the event didn’t impress O’Sulliavan’s fellow cueman,
Mark King, who burst on his twitter page on Saturday, July 16.
The three-time world snooker champion, O’Sullivan withdrew from the first ever high ranking event in Australia due to some injury problems. He is suffering from neck and back pains which made him
take this kind of a harsh decision. The Essex Exocet, O’Sullivan was practising hard for the tournament after grabbing Players Tour Championships (PTC) Event 1.
The world number nine, O’Sullivan was on his way to Down Under, Bendigo for participation in the event. He completed half his journey when he reached Bangkok but during his flight he suffered from
these injuries and decided to rest. He decided to move back to UK for medical treatment, rather than going for 2011 Australian Goldfields Open.
World Snooker issued a statement regarding O’Sullivan's withdrawal from the event, "Ronnie O'Sullivan has withdrawn from snooker's Australian Goldfields Open for medical reasons. He completed the
first part of the journey Down Under, to Bangkok, but having suffered from neck and back problems on the plane he has decided to return to the UK for medical treatment rather than taking the flight to Melbourne."
However, where many snooker fans were disappointed to know The Rocket missing the event, Mark King dealt with it a bit harshly. He burst out on his Twitter page as he didn’t like the decision at all.
He wrote on Twitter, "What a surprise THE ROCKET has pulled out of OZ, I reckon he has found a bone in his leg, what a load of b******s, it must be nice to choose."
The 35-year-old O’Sullivan was up against the Welshman, Dominic Dale, but now with O’Sullivan out of the tournament, Dale will face wildcard Steve Mifsud, who was due to play Matthew Selt in the wildcard
round. Meanwhile, Selt will go straight into the Last 32 round against the world snooker champion, John Higgins.
