Mark Lawrenson tips Liverpool to qualify for 2012/13 UEFA Champions League – EPL News
Legendary Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson believes that Kenny Dalglish’ men have quality and depth to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. Mark believes that Liverpool will finish ahead of Arsenal in the Barclays Premier League in the upcoming
term.
Mark Lawrenson believes that Liverpool have a huge chance to qualify for the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League and has insisted that the Reds can also challenge for the Barclays Premier League title next season.
The former Liverpool defender stated, “Liverpool have got a great chance.”
Lawrenson has hailed Liverpool’s extraordinary performance in the last two transfer windows. The Reds sold their two unsettled strikers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Babel-c31971, and signed Andy Carroll from Newcastle United and Luis Suarez from Ajax in the January
2011 transfer window.
Moreover, Kenny Dalglish kicked-off the current summer transfer season impressively as he signed the young English midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221
from Aston Villa.
Liverpool have managed to land most of their transfer targets – Ashley Young joined Manchester United instead – and Lawrenson believes that the Reds have done an excellent http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 in this transfer window.
“The business they’ve done since January has been absolutely massive. Dalglish has brought in top quality players like Carroll, Suarez, Adam, Downing and Henderson and with the sales of Torres and Babel, the whole thing has only cost them £40 million. Five
players for £40m? That’s great business in anybody’s eyes,” he said.
Liverpool’s transfer campaign has only been matched by Manchester United as other top Premier League clubs are yet to make big signings this summer.
Arsenal finished fourth last season, six points ahead of the fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur and ten points above Liverpool. However, Lawrenson believes that the Gunners are lacking depth in the squad and Liverpool will finish in the top four of the Barclays
Premier League ahead of Arsenal next season.
“I think http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 might just do Arsenal," Mark Lawrenson concluded.
Liverpool will begin their upcoming 2011/12 Barclays Premier League campaign with a home fixture against Steve Bruce’s Sunderland on August 13, 2011.
