Mark Lowe looking to hit the mound for the Texas Rangers in the World Series after being selected
Mark Lowe has expressed his desire to play in the World Series for the Texas Rangers and after Ron Washington dropped Koji Uehara and Yoshinori Tateyama, he was selected for the final roster on Wednesday, October 19, before Game 1 against the St. Louis Cardinals
at the Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The player practiced with his fellow relievers in the bullpen as the club looked set on winning their first game.
The match however did not go as well as the Rangers had hoped as they lost the bout 3 – 2. Nevertheless, Lowe got the chance to sit in on the dugout as his club sent in three relievers in a bid to keep the Cardinals, quiet. The club may not have pushed Lowe
in for the fixture but they do have him ready for the challenge in Game 2.
Lowe has not played for the Rangers since he was sidelined with a hamstring problem on September 21. Nevertheless, the pitching staff has determined Lowe to be ready for the challenge after two live batting practice sessions.
"I'm ready to rock," Lowe said afterward. "I was trying to get the hamstring loose and keep it loose the rest of the night. We'll have a stationary bicycle to ride in the bullpen. Everybody will use it, but it will probably have my name on it."
The player is looking to be on top of his game when he enters the frame for the Rangers. Manager Ron Washington will give him an opportunity but there is no guarantee on when that might happen. The player could not be part of the regular season roster last
year as a lower back problem kept him out for five months. However this year, things have been different. He has been part of the team for a long time and he is looking to go back up.
"Last year, I felt fine," Lowe said. "I felt the back was great, but my arm was probably tired from the quick rehab process. This year, I never lost time throwing. It's totally different this time around. Plus, I have been with this team for seven months.
I feel like a big part of this, and that makes a difference."
With Game 2 coming on Thursday, Lowe will be hoping to put his past behind him as the Cardinals might give him a chance to prove his mettle on the mound.
