Mark My Words claims first position in Classic Final
Mark My Words marvellously made a big mark by winning the Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic Final 2012 here at Monmore racecourse on Friday, June 22. The high-stakes Open Race went down on the flat course of 630 metres.
After breaking from the red box, the P. Sallis-trained black dog demonstrated sterling and winning performance against the hot favourite contender Westmead Maldini who was h**l-bent to thrive at every cost.
During the thrilling event, there was witnessed a neck-to-neck clash between Mark My Words and Westmead Maldini, but the former cruised to victory by crossing the finish line with a margin of 3 lengths.
It was a remarkable feat that provoked Sallis to comment, “It was crucial getting drawn inside Maldini in a final where what led would win, fortunately it was us – and when you do break, trap one with the short run to the bend is a massive edge.”
Prior to this triumph, the three-year-old veteran hound had won a big race by the big margin of 5 ¾ lengths on June 18, 2012.
The dashing dog possesses a terrific track record. Since the dawn of 2012, he has bagged a number of iconic marks, establishing himself as a favourite prospect in the betting market.
It is expected that the son of Westmead Hawk out of Jazz Hurricane will repeat the same class in his upcoming ventures.
With Mark My Words finishing first in 37.50 seconds, Westmead Maldini (5-4) grabbed the runner-up rank by covering the distance in 37.74 seconds.
Ballintine Molly finished third on the podium. He took 38.06 seconds to reach the boundary strap. Killieford Blaze got fourth spot while Granard Bound stood fifth. The last position went to Clerihan Gold.
At the end of the race, the winner walked away with the cash prize worth £7500. Now, Mark My Words is on the verge of a hat-trick that he will endeavour to complete in his next outing.
As a whole, the Classic Final was an exciting event watched by a large number of the sport lovers. The way the victor performed was quite amazing. The podium finisher received a lot of appreciations from the spectators.
