Mark Nicholas advocates overhaul of Australian line-up – Cricket News Update

Johnson has been under fire for his poor performance since the Aussies’ nerve-shattering defeat to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in the 1st Test, held last week. As the 2nd and last Test is set to start today, Cummins is expected to stage his debut.
Nicholas has also voiced grave concerns over the batting outputs of senior players including Phil Hughes, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 and Simon Katich. He thinks that it is a silly approach to rely on the aged batsmen and expect match-winning performances from them.
He stated, “There’s a problem with Phil Hughes. I am concerned about him. There are big issues over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SM-Katich-c2543. You have to be bold as a selector. You don’t want three guys over 35 in your top-five, so there’s been a need for a bit of planning
there.”
However, the outspoken commentator has backed the Kangaroos’ skipper, Michael Clarke, terming him to be the ‘right man for the job’.
“I think http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 is the right man for the job. There’s an enthusiasm, energy, and a sense of adventure about him,” added Nicholas.
Nicholas’ remarks may accelerate the process of change that the Australian cricket managers have been planning since the last few months. This metamorphosis is likely to occur shortly after the ongoing series.
