Mark O’Meara offers his caddie to Tiger Woods
Mark O’Meara has offered his caddie to Tiger Woods, who is once again, in a hunt of finding the right man to carry his bags.
Woods dumped Steve Williams on the onset of AT&T National, when the latter caddied for Adam Scott. The 14-major winner alleged Williams of dishonesty, which later resulted in a cold war between the two. Woods hired Bryon Bell for the World Golf Championship-Bridgestone
Invitational and Williams permanently joined Scott.
However, it was the latter partnership which impressed everyone, as Scott went on to win the event, owing much of the success to the invaluable advice of Williams. Not surprisingly, Williams saw this win as a chance to hit back at his former boss, who according
to Williams, mistreated him. Williams, as a result, decided to rub his first win in 21 weeks onto Woods face and referred to himself as a ‘front-runner.’ He also hailed this victory with Scott as “the greatest victory” in his career.
Woods, on the other hand, would be ruing his decision to let go of his 12-year-long partner, who stood right next to Woods through thick and thin and supported the golfer through the worst phase in his career, and life in general.
Nevertheless, Woods has once again revoked his search for a caddie and this time, he has a chance to hire Shane Joel, who is currently working with Mark O'Meara. Interestingly, it was O'Meara himself who offered his caddie to Woods. In fact, he texted Woods
last week, saying he would not stand in his and Joel’s way, if they decide to team up.
When inquired from O'Meara regarding Woods’ response to this offer, he replied, “I have not heard from either Tiger or Shane. I think they talked last week at Firestone, but as far as I know, I still have a caddie. Since then, the situation has apparently
remained unchanged.”
On the other hand, Woods was reported to have replied, “thanks, will keep you posted.”
No further statements have come out by either of the two parties, however, time is running out for the Tiger and he will need to make a decision as soon as possible.
