27 to March 30.
The four day match will be once again at the forefront of the Marylebone Cricket Club’s campaign for organising floodlit Test cricket. In the day-night four-day match, a pink ball will be used rather than the white ball, conventionally
used internationally for day night games.
The 42-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 Test cricketer had last worn MCC colours 17 years ago and is excited to lead the side in a pink-ball match.
"I have never played with a pink ball before and I'm looking forward to negotiating this new challenge," said Ramparkash speaking to the media reporters on Friday. "Any innovation which could help increase the popularity of
the game is to be welcomed," he added further.
The world cricket committee of MCC is adamant that day and night first class matches would be helpful in attracting crowds to the stadium in those parts of the world where attendances have fallen since the introduction of T20 cricket.
The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) had also experimented with the pink ball in a day and night first class match between MCC and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 played at the same venue last year. Overall this will be the third day and
night first class match to be played under MCC’s flagship.
The four-day match will be preceded by a quadrangular Twenty20 tournament, the
Emirates Airline Twenty20 – featuring Durham and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806. Former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid will play for MCC in the limited overs tournament. Both the batting veterans are taking it as a platform
to adjust them to the shortest format of the game ahead of fifth edition of Indian Premier League starting on April 4 this year.
