Mark Reynolds helps Baltimore Orioles crush Boston Red Sox 7-1 – MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles crushed the Boston Red Sox 7-1 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland on Tuesday, August 14 in the opening game of their three match series.
Buck Showalter and company absolutely dominated their opponents on Tuesday evening to take a vital 1-0 lead in the series.
"We've been playing really well against them all year," said Chris Davis. "It was big for us to get the win and kind of set the tone for the series."
"I know the coaches had a meeting, Bobby had a meeting, we all had a meeting," Pedroia said. "Basically when I spoke I said we all had to be better. That means the owners, Bobby, coaches, especially the players. I have had one problem with Bobby earlier
in the year and I went into his office and talked to him like a man and he talked to me like a man."
Omar Quintanilla displayed some impressive hitting skills as he connected for a solo home-run to right in the third inning to put Baltimore on the board. Mark Reynolds also joined the party with a home-run to right in the fifth to extend restore Orioles’
1-0 run lead.
Matt Wieters made the most of scoring opportunities and Chris Davis singled to centre in the sixth to stretch Baltimore’s lead to 4-1.
Reynolds continued to take advantage of the Red Sox’s errors, hitting a three run home-run to left in the sixth to help Baltimore establish complete control over the contest.
For the Red Sox, Carl Crawford scored the only run with an RBI single to centre in the fourth inning.
Orioles’ starting pitcher Wei Yin Chen produced a match winning performance for his side after he gave up just a run in six solid innings while striking-out four batters.
Relief pitchers Darren O’Day, J.C. Romero and Matt Lindstrom combined to pitch three scoreless inning as the Orioles held on to their lead comfortably to emerge victorious.
Boston’s starter Josh Beckett, on the other hand, proved to be very costly. He allowed six runs on six hits in just over five innings to take his 10th loss of the season.
