Mark Selby ready for his campaign in the 2011-2012 Snooker season
Leicester-based potter, Mark Selby had a consistent last snooker season with a tremendous track record, though, he could not win any major event. However, the world number three is
now looking forward to the 2011-12 Snooker season for a better campaign this time and is hoping to make the most out of it.
The Jester from Leicester, Selby made a decent run in the 2010-11 Snooker Season and finished it with 74.7 per cent of match winning rate along with a frame winning percentage of 62.1. The former
Welsh Open winner, Selby reached the final matches of two major ranking events of the season; 2011 German Masters and 2011 China Open, but unfortunately he lost in both of them.
However, he grabbed some minor ranking titles including Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 2 and Snooker Championship League Group 1. His consistently brilliant performance brought him up to number
three spot in the World Snooker Rankings and at the number two spot in the PTC Order of Merit.
While speaking to the local media, Selby said, "Last season I got to two ranking finals but didn't win either of them, which was disappointing. I was happy with the consistency I showed over the season,
but now it's all about winning more titles"
In reply to a question about his plans in the upcoming season, he told the media, "Last season I played more than 100 matches and, looking at the calendar, I could play even more this time. Depending
on how I do in the main ranking events, I may miss the odd PTC event just to make sure I am not burned out for the big events."
Selby reached the quarter-finals of the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship 2011 where he lost to Chinaman, Ding Junhui, by 10-13. However, Selby has new plans for the upcoming season and is determined
to enjoy a successful tour this time.
The 27-year-old Selby will start his new season’s campaign playing in the first event of Players Tour Championship (PTC) on Monday, June 20 at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield, followed by the
first major ranking tournament on Australian soil, the Australian Goldfields Open 2011.
