Mark Selby throws Nigel Bond out from the 2011 German Masters – Snooker news
Mark Selby has thrown Nigel Bond out of the 2011 German Masters round 1 by a score of 5-1 in a best-of-nine frame match.
Nigel Bond, who is a strong break builder and has compiled more than 95 centuries in competitive plays, succumbed to his opponent Mark Selby, a former Snooker Masters 2010 winner and also is always found reliable on the last match balls.
Though there were a few very good pots seen in the match but both players could not produce a quality play for the audience as was expected of them. There were no centuries made in all the frames played. In the match, they were seen missing some easy
shots and giving each other chances, which neither player availed properly.
Selby was leading with the scores of 3-1 in the match, where Bond gave a chance to Selby which he could not avail properly and after making a break of only 26, gave Bond a chance to be back on the table.
However, Bond on the other side missed a simple black’s pot, leaving Mark Selby again on an easy red. Playing safe and making a few consistent small breaks Mark Selby bet Nigel Bond, who was looking a bit under pressure in the final frame playing against
Selby.
Mark Selby is in the top 16 players of the tournament and will now be playing with Stephen Henry. Selby has now jumped to the quarter-final.
Stephen Henry on the other side has beaten J. Trump by a frame score of 5-2, in a best of 9 frames game. Other players reaching the quarter-final are Ding Junhui, who has beaten M. Stevens by 5-1, Graeme Dott after beating T. Thirapongpaiboon by 5-1.
Similarly, P. Ebdon came up after beating A. Higginson by 5-3 and J. Swail after beating M. Allen by 5-3.
