Mark Trumbo’s four RBIs help the Los Angeles Angels defeat the Texas Rangers 15-4 – MLB Update
Los Angeles Angels’ first-baseman Mark Trumbo had a remarkable day with the bat as he hit four RBIs in the Angels’ 15-4 win over the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark, Texas, on 19
April.
Trumbo also forced two runs on three hits, including a solo homer. His team-mates also played their roles in the team’s victory as Peter Bourjos hit a home-run and took three runs on four hits while Hank Conger scored two runs on two hits. The last three
players in the Angels’ roster were new comers but they performed really well to make their positions strong in the line-up.
Bourjos made an RBI single against the Rangers’ reliever Michael Kirkman towards the left-field position when David Murphy made a mistake that gave Bourjos and Conger an easy run. Bourjos also hit a two-run homer to give his team a lead of 13-1 in the seventh
inning. In the last games, he did not do well as he had just five runs on 30 hits.
Bourjos expressed his excitement as, “It's only April, but you want to come back and stay with them. They have a good offense. ... Tonight, it was our night.”
The Angels last five batters added 12 runs on 13 hits including 11 RBIs which was considered a game-winning performance. The experienced players like Vernon Wells and Alberto Callaspo also combined runs with the last three young trios. The Angel’s lead-off
hitter, Maicer Izturis struck a home-run and had an exemplary Win-Loss record of 10-13 in the current Major League Baseball season.
The Angels’ starter Matt Palmer also played a vital role as he had three strike-outs with one walk. He allowed one run on three hits in six inning pitches and become a part of Angels’ due to an injured Scott Kazmir.
The Angels’ Manager Mike Scioscia was pleased with the performance of the batters as well as from the pitchers. Speaking to reporters, he said, “This was obviously a breakout offensive night. They were hitting the ball to all parts of the field. It was a
great effort by Matt. He had the ball moving on both sides of the plate. He just pitched. That's good to see.”
On the other side, it was not the day of the Rangers as their pitchers and batters both struggled. The Rangers’ starter Colby Lewis allowed four runs on five hits and had just two strike-outs in five inning pitches.
