Mark Walters lashes out at Aston Villa transfer policies - EPL News
Legendary Aston Villa winger, Mark Walters, has blasted the Villans’ transfer policies in the past few seasons which have seen them sell their most prized players to bigger clubs.
Aston Villa, who have won Premier League seven times, have now become more of a feeder club in the Barclays Premier League. The European cup winners of 1982 have been selling their top players to the big Premier League teams.
Walters has hit out at Aston Villa hierarchy, who are showing no ambition of making the Villans a top club in the Premier League.
Walters believes that Aston Villa should concentrate on building a stronger squad rather than getting transfer money from sales of their talismanic players.
Mark Walters said, “They have now sold their best player in each of the last three seasons with Gareth Barry, James Milner and Ashley Young all going.”
Aston Villa sold their influential skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-Milner-c17706, was also transferred to the Eastlands next season.
And now the Villans have already lost http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221 to Liverpool.
Wigan Athletic’s talismanic winger, Charles N’Zogbia, has been heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa. Alex McLeish wants to land the French international in order to replace Stewart Downing who is set to join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
Walters believes that an ambitious player like N’Zogbia should not join Aston Villa, as the club have lost their soul and will remain a mediocre Premier League club or might end up getting relegated in the foreseeable future.
He added, “The talk is that Charles N’Zogbia will be brought in but, if I was him, I wouldn’t go to Villa. Why would an ambitious player want to go to a club that is not in Europe and selling its best players?”
Mark Walters has urged Alex McLeish to keep hold of his star performers and to concentrate on rebuilding the squad.
The Villans are in search of a wide player to replace Ashley Young and have already been linked with a number of players.
