Mark Webber: Comfortable with pace, Alonso, Sebastian and McLaren still threatening – Formula 1
Red Bull driver Mark Webber has stated that his pace in the practice sessions of the German Grand Prix of the 2011 Formula season was impressive.
The Aussie driver also added that although he was able to show some handsome pace in practice sessions, some of the top running drivers like Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton can be threatening in the qualifiers and in the
race.
Webber further added that Red Bull have worked hard and are ready for every challenge in the German Grand Prix.
“So far so good. The car feels pretty good. Fernando and Seb are really quick as well, and you never know whether McLaren might turn up as well as we don't know what they have been doing. We have concentrated on ourselves, and it was good. It also stayed
dryish, which is easier to manage from everyone's side,” commented Webber.
Talking about the Silverstone race, Webber stated that it was a close one but after he lost ground to Vettel in the first corner, a win was over for him from there on.
Although Webber was told to hold onto his position against Vettel in the last moments of the race, the Aussie thinks that he was not able to put everything right on the race day which counted towards his poor performance.
Webber added, “It's all the fine margins I keep talking about - get the start, first stint and building up. My race at Silverstone wasn't too bad, but Fernando drove a very good race, whilst Seb and I were pretty close.”
Although Red Bull are up in front of the championship table, Webber will try hard to turn the tables in his favour by putting up a good show in Germany.
It was here in Germany when the Aussie won his first race and also secured his first pole so he will be all fired up to win the race on Sunday to make his presence felt in the Red Bull camp.
