Mark Webber aims to win the 2013 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 News
Red Bull Racing driver, Mark Webber, has said that he is aiming to win the 2013 British Grand Prix despite being uncertain about his race seat at his team for the next season.
Webber’s future at the Milton Keynes based team is still unclear and there are many speculations which are suggesting that the Australian driver may leave the sport at the end of this season. Furthermore, Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus
has been considered as the potential replacement of the Aussie at Red Bull for the next year.
However, the 36-year-old has said that he is not concerned about his future and is positively looking forward to score his first victory of the season in the forthcoming race.
“I need to have a win coming my way,” Webber, 37 in August, is quoted by Brazil’s Totalrace. ”I just hope I get a whole weekend going right for me.”
In addition, he said that he has been able to take a good start to this season. But, he insisted that there are still some areas in which they need to make improvements in order to compete well with their rivals to defend their
title.
“The starts are beginning to be very good, which is an area I would like to thank the team for, but there are always other areas where you can improve,” he said.
It will be important to mention that there are many people including ex-F1 driver, Gerhard Berger who consider Raikkonen as a perfect option for Red Bull.
“Yes, I like Kimi,” Berger told Osterreich newspaper. ”He’s the coolest of them all, and surprised me last year with his strong comeback. He would be a good option.”
Presently, the 36-year-old is standing at 5th place in the drivers’ championship with 69 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and behind his main opponent, Lewis Hamilton. He has secured two podium
finishes in the season until now. However, he has been completely outclassed by his teammate, Sebastian Vettel who has already scored three race victories and two podiums and is leading the drivers’ championship with 132 points.
It will be thrilling to see how Webber performs in the approaching race and whether he will be able to secure his race seat or not.
