Mark Webber appreciates Adrian Newey for his car developing skills – Formula 1 news
Red Bull’s Mark Webber has expressed his appreciation for Adrian Newey who is the chief technical officer of the team and whose car developing skills have been a big part of Red Bull’s success.
“We need, behind all the smoke and mirrors of a Formula 1 team, to make a racing car as quick as possible to do the business in qualifying and the races,” he told to Autosport. “Adrian never loses sight of that and he's a huge influence. You have him beating
the drum and generally being a big beacon for the team here in terms of design and philosophy of where the car needs to be. You need that to be successful here. And when you start getting some success as well things change so quickly. Things become much easier.”
Red Bull Racing has been winning the constructors’ title along with their ace driver, Sebastian Vettel, winning the drivers’ championship for the last three F1 seasons. All of these titles have been greatly aided by the cars developed by Newey. Red Bull
was witnessed dominating the grid during the 2011 F1 season as the RB7 was the quickest car of all.
However, Vettel struggled with the RB8 during the beginning of the 2012 F1 season but Newey was able to rise to the top once again using his brilliant engineering talents which made the RB8 the quickest car on the grid by the end of 2012. As a result, Red
Bull has now become the fourth team to win three consecutive constructors’ titles and Vettel is the youngest triple champion in the history of F1.
Newey has been acknowledged for his skills not only by the Red Bull team but majority of the F1 community have appreciated his skills. He has also worked with Williams F1 and McLaren which are also the teams who have won three consecutive constructors’ championships.
Newey has been part of Williams’ five championships while having won one with McLaren.
Earlier, Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, admitted that the 2013 car, RB9, was a bit behind schedule but Newey has admitted that he is not concerned about it.
