Mark Webber believes Ferrari will be strong in the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has said that Ferrari will be strong in the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix after the Friday practice at the Hungaroring.
Webber set the second fastest lap in the FP2 of the Hungarian GP while his teammate, Sebastian Vettel topped the timesheets with 1 minute and 21.264 seconds. Moreover, he successfully gathered the necessary data which would surely help in making further
advancements in the car. However, he said that they cannot overlook the Scarlet team as its drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, came 4th and 5th in the charts. In addition, he said that Alonso has always performed really well at
the Hungaroring in the past, therefore he is expecting a strong showing of the Spaniard in this weekend’s race as well.
Even though, he expressed satisfaction over their practice run, the Aussie insisted that they still have got some work to do in order to come up stronger in the qualifying.
“It looks pretty tight over one lap,” he said. “The Ferraris are not hanging around. Fernando's always been strong here, I had a race with him in F3000 back in 2000 so the old dog's still there. There are some quick guys, we're not resting. We're not going
to be leaving the track early tonight, we've still got work to do.”
Besides, he said that although there was some traffic on the circuit during the practice sessions, he successfully managed to cover the desired run for his team.
“We had a bit of traffic, but apart from that it was pretty smooth. You've got to expect some traffic here when everyone's doing their own agenda,” he said.
“That's a nice bonus in terms of data tonight,” he added.
At present, the Australian driver is standing at fifth place in the drivers’ championship with 93 points. Additionally, he is ahead of Nico Rosberg and behind Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes.
It is to be noted that he had decided to retire from the world of F1 at the end of this season. Let’s see how he performs in the in the forthcoming races.
