Mark Webber believes battle for title will be between Red Bull and McLaren – Formula 1 news
Mark Webber admits that the season ahead looks to be featuring a fierce battle between the McLarens and the Red Bulls.
“Well we've done one race but it looks like we're pretty well organised - both teams - and we've executed pretty clean races from both sides,” Webber said. “Obviously the drivers are very experienced as well with getting the cars home.”
“In the end McLaren had track position from qualy so we had a bit of catching up to do and in the end we all bunched up after the safety car and pretty much followed each other home. So let's see how next week goes, it's very early days but the impression
is that we seem to look like we're going to be in a battle,” he added.
The first race of the season the Australian Grand Prix has just concluded a night ago, and it is evident which teams will be fighting at the front. McLaren and Red Bull are clear favourites with Mercedes and Lotus behind.
The latter two teams had a horrible first race but such is the sport anything can change in a matter of a split second but considering their cars and the drivers they stand a good chance for the top spots.
Webber rued his start to the race as he slipped up in the start a lost a few places down, but improved later on to finish off the race at 4th his best ever at the venue.
The local hero would have liked to do even better the target in his mind would have been a win and it could have materialised to, but his start probably let him down. Things can change for him as the season progresses and Webber will be hoping for better
luck.
He said that Nico Rosberg was beside him in the race and got off to a flyer passing him and Sebastian Vettel, a few other guys made good starts he added but he had to regroup his driving in from there and overall he is satisfied with the eventual result
of the race.
It will be interesting to see how Webber fares at the Malaysian GP due to star on March 25, 2012.
