Mark Webber believes end of 2012 may not live up to the hype – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber believes that the final two grands prix of the 2012 Formula 1 season may not be as enthralling for the spectators as they are expecting.
Webber’s teammate, Sebastian Vettel is presently leading the drivers’ championship with 255 points and has performed tremendously well in the season so far.
Moreover, the veteran German driver has a lead of 10 points over his major rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. Even though, it is extremely hard to make any kind of projections about the last two races as the season has been full of surprises until now. Nonetheless,
he has still been considered as the toughest contender in the title chase and appears to be unbeatable now.
Although, the fans are eagerly looking forward to see how the season ends and how the top two drivers compete with each other. On the other hand, the Australian driver thinks that the defending champion is very strong as compared to the Spaniard because
of his fastest car and the audience may not find the end as intriguing as they are expecting.
“They may not even see each other on-track — that’s the way it turns out sometimes,” Webber told WA Today. “It’s a bit like an FA Cup final or the rugby league grand final — sometimes it doesn’t live up to the hype.”
It will be important to mention that the Scarlet team has been making some essential advancement to provide their star driver with a competitive car in order to come up stronger in the forthcoming races.
However, Alonso’s teammate, Felipe Massa has recently said that they didn’t get the expected results after the testing of their update package at their factory and expressed that the Milton Keynes based team is stronger.
“It’s a new track, and I might be wrong,” he told Brazilian reporters this week, “but from what I’ve seen on the simulator, it’s similar to Korea and India.”
“We were reasonably competitive on those two circuits, but Red Bull was very strong,” said Alonso’s Ferrari teammate.
Let’s see how the top two rivals perform in the approaching races and who claims the championship title in the end.
