Mark Webber claims an incredible victory in 2012 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has claimed an impressive victory in 2012 British Grand Prix held at Silverstone Circuit.
Fernando Alonso of Ferrari claimed pole of the British GP and dominated the race until 48th lap on soft tyres. However, he lost his lead to Webber as his tyre were degraded towards the end of the race and secured second podium finish.
The Spaniard was followed by Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull who secured an impressive third podium finish after setting off from 4th grid position.
The defending champion remained ahead of Alonso’s teammate, Felipe Massa who came 4th after taking a start from 5th place in the grid. Moreover, it will be interesting to mention that the Brazilian driver delivered his best performance
of the current season in the last race.
Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus performed quite convincingly and secured 5th place finish after starting from 6th grid slot.
The Finnish driver was followed by his teammate, Romain Grosjean who showed an impressive pace as he came 6th after beginning from 9th grid position.
Michael Schumacher of Mercedes showed an inspiring pace in the qualifying as he secured 3rd place in the grid. Conversely, he could not convert his competitive grid position into a podium finish and came 7th place finish in the race.
The seven-time world champion stayed ahead of Lewis Hamilton of McLaren who secured 8th place finish after starting from the same grid position.
The British driver was followed by Bruno Senna of Williams who performed reasonably well and came 9th after he qualified for 13th place in the grid.
Hamilton’s teammate, Jenson Button suffered in the qualifying as he could not make his way into the second session. Nevertheless, he was able to score 1 point with his 10th place finish and seemed contended.
Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber came 11th after beginning from 17th grid slot and was followed by Nico Hulkenberg of Force India who remained ahead of Toro Rosso pair of drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne.
Nico Rosberg of Mercedes could not score even a single point in the race as he stood at 15th position and stayed ahead of Pastor Maldonado of Williams.
The Venezuelan driver was followed by Heikki Kovalainen of Caterham who stayed ahead of Marussia drivers, Timo Glock and Charles Pic. Furthermore, Pic stayed ahead of HRT drivers, Pedro de la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan.
Over and above, Sergio Perez of Sauber and Paul di Resta of Force India were retired during the race while Vitaly Petrov didn’t started due to an engine issue.
