Mark Webber committed to finish career with Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 driver Mark Webber has told media that he will finish his career at Red Bull Racing.
Webber confirmed his commitment with his current team after realising that he must focus on a long-term future with strong F1contenders.
Webber told the media that there is no reason for not to consider extending his stint beyond 2011 Formula 1 season.
Despite his comments about staying with Red Bull Racing, Webber did not rule out a switch to Ferrari as he was linked with them in the 2010 season.
He went on to say, “To race with them is very rewarding and enjoyable. Of course you have nerves at the time. There's not a guy in the pit lane that doesn't have nerves. They'd be lying if they told you they didn't. It's what gets you out of bed. That's
what a competitor goes through and that's what you enjoy.”
Recently, the Australian driver stated that he is expected equal treatment from his team in the upcoming Formula 1 season because the team gave more preference to his teammate Sebastian Vettel.
Regarding Webber’s 2010 performance, he was in a better position of winning the title if his points and figures were to be believed. In addition, he did not count for much at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. However, Vettel won the drivers’ championship at Abu
Dhabi GP, as he came out victorious.
In the first three testing sessions, both Red Bull Racing drivers did well for their team because they were very competitive during the testing. In the Valencia test, Webber performed really well and helped his team dominate the timesheets.
Other than Valencia’s superb performance, he also showed his good driving skills on the day three of the Jerez test. As he drove into the last Barcelona test, he gave his inspiring performance over the session. At the end of the testing the team principal
was really impressed by Webber’s outstanding performance and said that he still expects a lot from him for the 2011 season.
Despite some internal issues with the Red Bull team, Webber admitted that he is happy with his position at the outfit.
He said, “Obviously we've had a few headwinds here and there within the team, but to have two drivers do what we did last year is a unique situation and one of them might not – was not – supposed to have been in that situation.”
Webber is hopeful ahead of the upcoming season as he has the ability to put his all efforts during the race. He added he will again show all of his abilities in the 2011 season that will start on March 27 in Melbourne.
