Mark Webber confident for 2012 Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber is feeling confident for 2012 Canadian Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10.
Webber claimed an impressive victory in the Monaco GP at Circuit de Monaco after starting the race from pole position and became the sixth different winner in this season.
At present, the Australian driver, along with his teammate, Sebastian Vettel is just three points behind the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who is leading the drivers’ championship with 76 points.
Moreover, he is aiming to deliver his best in the upcoming race to become the first driver to win back-to-back grands prix in this year.
“I would say Montreal is one of the top five grands prix of year because it's a sensational atmosphere,” Webber said. “It's a really, really good venue and always provides an interesting grand prix there for whatever reason, and last year was no exception.
It's low downforce track with long straights, which is a different challenge. We'll see how that unfolds, but we're very confident the car should work well round there. I love driving the circuit; it's a good one to get our teeth into, a little bit like street
circuit, so I'm looking forward to getting out there.”
It will be important to mention that Webber has emerged as one of the most consistent drivers in the season so far as he secured fourth place finish in the first four races. However, he struggled during the fifth race held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona
in which he came 11th after setting off from the same grid position.
Nevertheless, he made an incredible comeback in the last race in Monte Carlo and is looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races.
On the other hand, the defending champions, Red Bull are currently leading the constructors’ championship with 146 points and they are 38 point ahead of their main rival, McLaren.
Over and above, they are trying their best to make the essential advancements and the necessary preparations so as to improve the pace of RB8 for the season ahead in order to defend their championship title.
