Mark Webber denies speculations about signing with Scuderia-Ferrari – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has rejected the reports of the Spanish media that he has signed a contract with Scuderia-Ferrari for the 2013 Formula 1 season.
It has been reported that Webber has secured a seat with the Italian team for the next season as he has some sound relationship with Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. Conversely, the Australian driver entirely denied all the rumours while he said that
he is just focusing on performing at his best for his current team in this season.
“Sergio [Perez] was flavour of the month last week for the Ferrari drive; now it's me,” he said. “I'm focusing 100% on this season and doing the best job for myself and Red Bull Racing. I'm not putting any energy into anything else. There's a whole season
ahead of us before we need to think about the future. One day the talk is about Jenson [Button joining Ferrari], then it's Sergio, now it's me. I haven't signed anything.”
Meanwhile, he said that they have been able to take a very good start of the season. He added that at this point in time, his only target is to deliver his best performance in the upcoming races while he said that there is a long season ahead.
Red Bull have not been feeling as confident as they were in the previous year mainly because of the reason that there have been four different winners in the first four races of the season who drove on completely different cars’ setups.
Nonetheless, at present, the defending champions are leading the constructors’ championship with 101 points ahead of McLaren. In addition, they are looking forward to make the necessary preparations and the significant developments so as to improve their
pace in the approaching season.
Furthermore, Webber is currently at third position in the drivers’ championship with 48 points ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren. On the other hand, his teammate, Sebastian Vettel is at the top of the drivers’ standings with 53 points in the season so far.
Therefore, the hopes of the double world championships are high as they have the perfect blend of talent and expertise to defend their championship title this year.
