Mark Webber deserves the championship - Lewis Hamilton
The McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton proclaimed if he is not able to lay his hands on the 2010 Formula One world championship, he would want to see Mark Webber do so.
The British driver currently stands at 4th place in the points’ tally, after having it conquered for a long time all through the season. With his 222 points, only a victory in Abu Dhabi can save Hamilton, which also needs to be coupled with disastrous
finishes by all the other top three rivals Fernando Alonso, Webber and Sebastian Vettel.
Alonso currently leads the charts with his 246 points, whereas both the Red Bull drivers, Webber and Vettel hold 2nd and 3rd places with their 238 and 231 points respectively. With the difference of 24 points, and keeping in mind the
pace of his MP4-25, the chances of the McLaren driver seem very dim now.
The aggressive dark man is reluctant to give up saying that although he needs a miracle to win the next race, yet he hopes to see one. Well, the way the season has unfolded amidst immense suspense and thrill, anything can be expected at this last and the
final round now.
However, the 2008 champ, while looking at the circumstances, declared that in any case if things do not turn out to favour him, he desires to see the Red Bull driver bag the first championship of his career.
The British driver explained saying, "I'd like to see Mark win it. He has done a great job this year. He has been told by his team what position he is, and against adversity he has kept at it. I think he has done an awesome job. I'm quite impressed with
what he has done. Vettel has obviously been incredibly quick and Fernando has done a good, solid job towards the end of the year. So it could go to any of them. But Mark's done pretty much everything right this year — apart from our little tangle."
The top slot of the Drivers’ Championship has been exchanged between Hamilton and Webber for most part of the season. Looking back at the events of the year, the chocolate skinned driver, very vividly announced that Webber has no doubt given him a tough
competition.
Despite of having said all this, Hamilton still warned all other three competitors that he has yet not stepped aside, rather he is adamant to fight until the very end of the rope. He continued saying that he still believes that he is in a pretty good form
and if the car reacts good there would be no stopping him. Moreover, he added that the rest of the title contenders need to be more careful as they have lots more to lose than him. He explained saying, “So I won't be looking out for them, letting them past
or anything like that. I'm going to Abu Dhabi to try to win, even though we don't have the fastest car at the moment, so it's going to be very difficult. But I could be riding in fourth and all three of them might not finish. Anything could happen."
Hamilton had been one of the strongest contenders of the season, however, his poor luck and some unwise moves declined him from the top of the charts to his current 4th position. He failed to finish three of the last seven races namely, the Hungarian,
Italian and the Singapore Grands Prix, where the last two of these retirements were due to the poor moves made by the overly eager driver.
However, now as the aggressive young man packs up the season he very plainly stated that he does not believe in looking at the past and regretting, rather he believes in getting the best out of what he has, and he yet has a chance.
