Mark Webber expecting his first win of the 2011 Formula 1 season within the upcoming three races
Red Bull Racing team driver Mark Webber has recently stated that he is expecting his first win of the 2011 Formula 1 season within the next three races.
“I enjoy Suzuka, it's a great track. Korea was pretty good for me [last year] until it rained. There are some good venues coming up. All the drivers like driving at Suzuka, so looking forward to going there, it's a great track, as is India,” he said.
His teammate and reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel on the other hand has almost closed the championship chapter and has been winning, scoring pole positions and all sorts of amazing results throughout the season.
Webber has been criticised by many for his performance this year but the team claims that he has done a good job as he has scored points consistently with a helpful handful of podium positions.
He is currently in 4th place in the drivers’ standings just 3 points behind the 2nd position holder Jenson Button. It has been a great season for RBR but one has to admit that this year’s performance really did create
a lot of controversies for the Australian driver.
“We've got some challenging venues coming up and some that I hope I can get my teeth into and continue in this way, but slightly further down the road on Sunday afternoon, pulling everything together and having a slightly better finish to the year if possible,”
he added.
Firstly, he is using the same piece of machinery as the current championship leader. The performance difference between Vettel and Webber is a bit too large and it is hard to believe that both of them are not on equal terms or relatively closer statistically.
Secondly, not securing a single win is also a big problem for the Australian driver but since he has been trying his best to perform up to the mark and he did a great job in 2010, he does deserve another chance and that is what the team will give him in
2012.
