Mark Webber feels comfortable with Pirelli’s new rear tyres for the German GP – Formula 1 News
Red Bull Racing driver has said that he is feeling comfortable with Pirelli’s new rear tyres for the 2013 German Grand Prix after the Friday practice.
After the terrible incidents of tyre explosions in the British GP at Silverstone circuit, the Italian tyre company has come up with stronger rear tyres in this weekend’s race to ensure the safety of drivers in the sport. The rear
tyres by Pirelli run at a lower operating temperature as compared to the old ones which may reduce the pace of the cars. Nevertheless, Webber has expressed that he is very much satisfied with the new compound and didn’t face any issue on Friday.
In addition, the Australian driver said that they have successfully gathered some valuable information about their updates which will definitely provide great help to make the necessary developments for the qualifying and the race.
“I feel comfortable on that tyre, it's gone very well for us today,” he said. “But the race is not just resting on that tyre, we need to make sure we get the most out of the rest of the package and that means tomorrow but also
the race itself. Overall we got the maximum out today's programme and it went quite well.”
Besides, he said that he along with his teammate, Sebastian Vettel, were really quick in the Friday practice. However, he asserted that the Brackley based team also showed some remarkable pace. Therefore, he insisted that they
must work hard to attain competitive result in the approaching race.
“Seb and I look a little bit more competitive on one lap today but Mercedes could have put the fuel up so we're not going to get our hopes up for tomorrow and we're going to keep working hard,” he added.
The Aussie has performed convincingly well in the season so far and has scored 87 points. He is currently standing at 5th place in the drivers’ championship. Furthermore, he is ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and behind
his major rival, Lewis Hamilton.
It will be thrilling to see how Webber and Vettel perform in the upcoming race.
