Mark Webber feels confident after Friday practice of 2012 Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber says that he is feeling confident with the team’s progress for the forthcoming season after free Friday practice sessions of 2012 Canadian Grand Prix held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal.
Webber set the twelfth best time of 1 minute and 15.907 seconds in FP2 and completed 41 laps. Moreover, he followed Sergio Perez of Sauber and stayed ahead of Pastor Maldonado of Williams.
Even though, he came 12th in the timesheets during the afternoon, however, he expressed that he is very much pleased with the performance of his team while he said that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the next race.
“It's been a pretty good day,” Webber said. “We thought there would be more mixed weather, but it didn't come. We ran the super soft tyre in the first session, which we thought was the right thing to do. The programme was bit compromised, but we still got
everything done that we needed to. We're pretty happy with where we're at and I'm confident in work we did with the car, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow. There are some quick cars out there, but we've seen that on Fridays before this year - I'm looking
forward to the weekend.”
The Australian driver, along with his teammate, Sebastian Vettel, is just 3 points behind the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who is presently leading the drivers’ championship with 76 points.
Besides, he has been one of the most consistent drivers in the season so far as he secured fourth place finish in the first four grands prix. Additionally, he took an amazing victory in the last race held at Circuit de Monaco after setting off from the pole
position.
On the other hand, the defending champions, Red Bull are at the top of constructors’ rankings with 146 points and they are 38 points ahead of their main rival, McLaren.
Over and above, they are trying their best to make the significant developments and the necessary preparations so as to improve the pace of their car for the approaching races in order to defend their championship title this year.
