Mark Webber feels confused over his lack of pace in 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber is feeling confused over his lack of pace in 2012 German Grand Prix in which he could only secure 8th place finish.
Webber faced five-place grid penalty because of his unscheduled gearbox change after the qualifying of the German GP. Later, he struggled with the lack of pace and found it difficult to improve his position and came 8th in the charts.
Afterwards, he expressed that he is very much disappointed over his uncompetitive finish in the last race while he said that he is quite perplexed by his limited pace. He also said that he took a convincing start but later on he found it difficult to compete
with the contenders in the front.
Nonetheless, he said that they are trying to make the substantial advancements so as to improve their pace for the Hungarian GP and are aiming to come up stronger in the season ahead.
“I had no pace today and wasn't quick,” said the Australian driver. “I couldn't stay with people that I normally can, so we'll look into it and come back in Budapest. I'm disappointed, as I expected to get more out of today's race. Normally Sundays have
been okay for me, but not today. After the first lap it wasn't too bad, I got Lewis, but after that I was just hanging on. This is a completely different track [to Silverstone], but we have to be quick in all conditions and today we weren't for whatever reason.”
Meanwhile, the team principal of Red Bull, Christian Horner said that the Aussie has got the potential to achieve more and he suffered in the race because of the penalty. Nevertheless, he said that they are ready to make their best efforts to provide their
drivers the best car for the forthcoming races in order to defend their title.
Presently, Webber is standing at second place in the drivers’ championship with 120 points and is ten points ahead of his teammate, Sebastian Vettel. Besides, he is now 34 points behind the leading driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Above and beyond, let’s see how the season ahead progresses for him and his team.
