Mark Webber feels happy after claiming victory in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver has said that he is extremely happy after claiming his first victory of the season in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco on May 27.
Webber started the race from the front of the grid and managed to stay ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes who secured second podium finish. Moreover, he used his tyres well during the race and delivered an amazing performance in fading light.
The Australian driver has scored his second win in Monte Carlo and he expressed that the race was very exciting as he maintained his lead.
“It was a very interesting race, reasonably straightforward at the start, getting the gap on the super softs and just managing with Nico,” said Webber. “Obviously we had a bit of a gap over the rest so both of us were getting away and then it was just a
matter of getting a reasonable gap and also the weather was threatening around that pitstop window as well and we weren't sure whether to go a bit longer and put a set of inters on if it rained or whatever. The pit stop was good and we managed the rain well.”
Furthermore, he admired the efforts of the team and said that he is very much delighted with his performance in the last race. Nonetheless, he said that they need to keep on making the necessary developments and the significant preparations for the forthcoming
races.
Besides, he said that he is hoping to keep up the same level of pace in 2012 Canadian Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal.
However, after emerging as the sixth different winner, he said that there are possibilities of seeing a seventh winner in the next race as there have been six different winners in the season until now.
At present, he is standing along with his teammate Sebastian Vettel in the drivers’ championship with 63 points behind the leading driver Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and he is 10 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton of McLaren. Besides, he is looking forward to
perform with consistency in the approaching races.
