Mark Webber feels happy with his performance in the season so far – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has said that he is very happy with his performance in the first four rounds of the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Webber is currently standing at 5th position in the drivers’ championship with 32 points. Moreover, he is two points ahead of his main rival, Felipe Massa of Ferrari.
In the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, he showed an inspiring qualifying performance and managed to secure second grid position. However, he faced a little bit issue with his race pace and could only secure 6th place finish.
Then, in the Malaysian Grand Prix, he delivered an impressive performance and secured second podium finish after taking a start from 5th grid position. Unfortunately, in the Chinese GP, he failed to score even a single point as he was retired.
Nevertheless, he made a convincing comeback in the Bahrain GP and came 7th after setting off from the same grid position.
The Australian driver said that although he could not score any points in the third round of the season, but he is very much pleased with his performance in the season until now.
“I think I had good momentum over the winter and drove well in the first three races,” Webber told Autosport.
“China was disappointing but apart from that I'm pretty happy with my performances,” he said.
In addition, he said that he is quite satisfied with his performance in the Bahrain GP as he managed to secure 7th place finish even after facing the tyre degradation issue.
“I don't think I've ever had a good result around that track, so that's a bit of a bogey circuit,” he added.
Moreover, he said that they are focussing to keep on making the essential developments in their car in order to perform well in the forthcoming races.
Besides, he said that they are looking forward to make some significant steps-ups in Europe to enhance their race pace to compete well with their opponents in the season ahead.
“But we're going to get to Europe, regroup, and go get them,” the Aussie said.
