Mark Webber feels underwhelmed over his result in 2013 Monaco GP – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has expressed that he is feeling underwhelmed over his result in the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix.
Webber showed convincing pace in the qualifying at Circuit de Monaco and managed to secure 4th grid slot for the race. He performed admirable well and managed to secure third podium finish after overtaking Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes who went to pit during
the safety car period.
However, the Australian driver has not shown much delight over his podium finish and asserted that the race became completely predictable as it was all about tyre preservation after the pit stop.
“For us, we knew it was a little bit against us starting from the second row but I got an absolutely incredible start,” Webber said. “Sod's law is it's the shortest run to the first corner, so I think Seb and I had nowhere to go really so we were lifting
because obviously Nico and Lewis looked like they had pretty tricky ones so we'll try and save some of those starts for future reference.”
“It was completely predictable that if the race was going to stack up then the two-stop was not really an option to come back in to traffic,” he added.
Besides, he said that he was pleased to overtake his main rival, Hamilton during the race because of which he managed to attain competitive points for his team.
At present, the Aussie is standing at 5th place in the drivers’ championship with 57 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
He secured 6th place finish in the Australian GP after taking a start from second grid position. Later, he performed impressively well in the Malaysian GP and secure second podium finish after qualifying for 5th position. He could not score even a single
point in the Chinese GP because of his retirement. However, he made a strong come back in the Bahrain GP and managed to secure 7th place finish. After that, he came 5th in the Spanish GP.
It will be interesting to see how he performs in the forthcoming races.
