Mark Webber fell in love with the Korean track after the Friday Practice sessions
The current championship leader Mark Webber said that it had been a “positive day” after he finished as the fastest driver of the day after the second practice session for the Korean Grand Prix.
Mark Webber’s best time of the day was a 1:37.942 that was 0.190 seconds over Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari who was the 2nd fastest driver during the second practice session. Lewis Hamilton followed the Spaniard in 3rd place and just 0.500
seconds divided the top 3 drivers.
“The track changed a lot today, obviously it's a new venue and it was slippery in P1. It started to get more sensible as the day went on, but it's the same for everyone and we just have to keep chipping away, doing what we can with our programme and working
with the car,” said Webber.
Webber believes that it was a positive day and the car was running pretty well. The team was able to secure a lot of useful information required for the race ahead of this weekend and succeeded to achieve their goals in the Friday practice sessions.
The Australian added that he enjoyed his first experience of driving on the circuit and praised the officials for getting it ready on time.
“We're optimistic with today's performance and now we're focusing on getting ready for tomorrow. It's enjoyable to drive here - there are a couple of unique sections and it's always a challenge for a driver to get into a new venue,” he added.
Mark Webber loved the track and though that it is quite a versatile track that requires both speed and precision. However, Webber echoed his teammate Sebastian Vettel’s comments about the pit entry and exit as he was also not satisfied with the work done
near the pit lane.
“The pit entry and exit is a little bit marginal to get on and off the track but, apart from that, they've done a remarkable job and I'm clutching at straws to criticise anything,” he said.
Nevertheless, it will be an exciting inaugural race at the Korean International circuit as the top 3 teams will continue their intense battle for the world championship at the Korean Grand Prix.
