Mark Webber happy with Red Bull’s car development – Formula 1 news
Mark Webber, who drives for the Red Bull Racing team, has appreciated his team’s efforts in developing his car and scored the pole position at the Korean Grand Prix.
During the four races of the current season, Red Bull drivers Webber along with teammate Sebastian Vettel were not able to achieve a front row position.
Following their failure, Red Bull team has improved remarkably by securing a front row start for the last two Grands Prix. Webber pointed out that even though they had done well in Japan, they were not confident about their performance in Korea. Thus they
had been preparing hard for this one so that they should be able to come out on top.
“We had a good car in Valencia and then after that it was not that easy for us, so we were a bit open to that after Suzuka, coming here knowing that it's not going to be a given. We have a pretty handy car round here, for sure. The guys have been working
very, very hard and there's no question that the hard work's paying off but we focus on ourselves and just keep pushing the lap times down as much as we can and it's lucky we do because obviously the gap is not that big to Lewis,” Webber said.
Their hard work has certainly paid off as Webber qualified first and secured the pole position for Red Bull. Teammate Vettel was expected to achieve this particular goal as he had been the one to be the quickest in the second and third free practice rounds
but Webber came out quicker this time. Vettel did not do badly for himself either as he qualified second though he has expressed unhappiness with his final lap.
Webber is very happy with this achievement as his only pole position this season was at Monaco which had only been possible because Michael Schumacher was given a grid penalty. He admits that last few races have been difficult for him but he is very pleased
that he will start from the pole. He added that Sunday will be important and that his team is ready to bring a good result.
