Mark Webber hopes to perform well in the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 News
Red Bull Racing driver, Mark Webber, has said that he is hoping to perform well in the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix, which is to be held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on June 9.
Webber said that the Canadian GP is one of the most favourite races of F1 fans. Moreover, he cited that Montreal is a very good place to visit, as it has some very good restaurants and an amazing environment.
It is to be noted that the Australian driver has never been able to secure a podium finish in Canada. Therefore, he has asserted that he is keenly looking forward to attain competitive results in the forthcoming race.
“Canada is a really good race. It’s a popular GP for fans and drivers; the fans are very passionate and it’s always an interesting GP because it’s another street circuit. There are some very good restaurants in Montreal, the whole
city stops for race and atmosphere is a bit more traditional I would say. I haven’t been on the podium there yet, so I need to sort that out,” he said.
“It’s not a favourite memory, but I remember when Mansell retired on the last lap when he was in lead. Also when Jean Alesi won his only race there, that was good,” he added.
He is currently standing at 5th place in the drivers’ championship with 57 points. Furthermore, he is ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and behind his major opponent, Lewis Hamilton. Although, he has not been able to
attain competitive results with consistency in the season so far as compared to the preceding year and has faced retirement in one race. Nevertheless, he is not feeling upset and is positively looking forward to score good points in the approaching races.
The Aussie has secured two podium finishes in the first six races and has impressed everyone with his good form. However, his race seat at the Milton Keynes based squad is not confirmed for the next season until now and there are
chances he may leave the sport at the end of this year.
Let’s see how he performs in the season ahead and whether he will be able to stay at Red Bull or not.
