Mark Webber is there to stay and conquer
The Red Bull driver, Mark Webber assured that the battle for the title would never be over for him. He proclaimed that whatever results this season brings, he is going to come back next season again with the conviction of bagging the championship.
While talking to the media earlier today, the Australian driver dismissed all the speculations that rose after the Brazilian Grand Prix. Following the last weekend’s race Webber told some of the journalists that his teammate Sebastian Vettel, is the team’s
favourite while he had been "inconvenient" to Red Bull this season. This statement gave way to speculations that the driver will quit Formula One once the last race of the season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is over.
However, only today the driver confirmed that he is not only going to stay with the sport but also he is looking forward for another very strong season ahead. He said that this decision has nothing to do with this Sunday’s race results, even if he wins or
loses the title, his Formula one career is not to end up here.
The 34-year-old has not enjoyed a very smooth relation with his team or the teammate all through the season. There had been issues and conflicts among the team drivers, which many believe has affected their race results at several occasions. However, the
team boss, Christian Horner proclaimed time and again that the air is clean and all the issues are resolved.
Moreover, the team management has also stayed firm on its decision all through the season, that they would not follow any kind of team orders. Horner has insisted many times that both the team drivers are equally capable and he values them evenly. Still,
only a week back Webber spoke his fear that the team has an emotional inclination towards the younger German driver.
However, despite of all the ills and odds, the driver assured his fans this morning, "I'm going to be here again next year… Of course the longer you drive, obviously the odds of you winning the title go in one direction. I'm not going to be around forever,
and I clearly understand these guys (referring to Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel) will have more opportunities.”
He accepted the fact that he is older than many of his rivals. He further said that the younger the driver is greater are his chances of winning, especially if he is also lucky enough to lay his hands on a competitive car.
"Obviously, I didn't really have a winning car early in my career, which is the case for lots of people that come into Formula One. I now have that, and I've been very successful at the back part of my career, and now I want to do it (win the title) on Sunday,”
he concluded.
