Mark Webber looks forward to win his home grand prix in Australia – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has said that he is very much looking forward to win the 2013 Australian Grand Prix which is going to be held in his homeland on March, 17.
Webber said that it feels great to claim a race victory and he has been able to win many races until now. However, he expressed that some victories are special for him which include his last year’s win in the British GP.
“Any grand prix victory is special,” Webber said. “I'm lucky to have had that feeling a few times now which is great. Aside from Monaco, the British Grand Prix, those very prestigious races, this is for sure up there in the top three of events a driver wants
to win.”
Furthermore, he said that he is aiming to deliver his best in the season opener which is going to be held at Albert Park in Melbourne. In addition, he said that he will be immensely delighted if he scores victory in Australia as home race win is a sensational
feeling. But, he insisted that the competition is really tough and it will not be easy for him to claim victory in the first race of the season.
“Your home grand prix is for sure very, very special so it would be a sensational feeling to be able to do it, but all of the anniversaries and all of the nice fuzzy stuff is not really going to make it any easier for me,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the Australian driver performed convincingly well during the preceding season and managed to score competitive points for his team. He stood amongst the most consistent drivers in the first few races, but unfortunately
failed to score points with consistency towards the end because of some technical issues in his car.
Nevertheless, he has asserted that he is positively targeting to perform well in this season and is aiming to fight his own battle instead of playing a supporting role in the team. Let’s see how he competes with his rivals in this year’s championship.
