Mark Webber promised equal treatment from Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has been going through some problems with his team as a result of which the team principal Christian Horner clarified that the team treats both of its drivers equally and that they enable both of them to perform at their
best.
Webber’s teammate Sebastian Vettel, who is currently leading the 2011 drivers’ championship has been dominating this season quite clearly and Mark, who is using the same technology as him has not been able to cope up with him.
Recently during the British Grand Prix, Mark was chasing Sebastian for the 2nd place during the final couple of laps and he was asked by the team to give up his chase. Webber did not obey the team orders and since he was in a good position to
make an overtake, he wanted to go for it while his team wanted him to play it safe.
“It is not often that you are closing in the last few laps, that was the awkward one I think - we are still free to race most of the time. It was an awkward one and it is not often that things like that happen in terms of the time of the race, and up until
then we will be racing,” said the Australian driver.
The two teammates collided during the 2010 Turkish Grand Prix after a similar competition but in that case, it was Sebastian Vettel chasing Mark Webber.
“I think it always depends on the situation in the race. I don't think there was anything for us to gain as a team in the last race. Fernando was quite far away and whoever was fourth, Felipe or Lewis, they were battling, they were quite far away from us,
so as a team there was nothing to gain,” said Vettel after the British Grand Prix.
The Australian driver is currently in 2nd place in the drivers’ standings with 124 points which means that he is 80 points short of Vettel.
