Mark Webber says 2011 Belgium Grand Prix is best ever achievement of Red Bull team – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has said that 2011 Belgium Grand Prix success is the best ever achievement of the team so far.
Webber added that the Pirelli tyres gave them full support during the Grand Prix following the blistering issue in qualifying round on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Spa-Francorchamps.
The team driver talked to the media and stated that the start of his Belgium race was shocking, as he was forced to take early pitstop when he was running for the eighth position. After graining soft tyres, he enjoyed much better grip on the medium tyres
and regained his track position after struggling on them at the Spa circuit.
The Australian driver commented, “I was supposed to pit when Seb did, but had a completely blocked radio. I asked if I was wanted to stop, but heard nothing. Most of the race was charged with frustration from the start. We were obviously very, very close
through Eau Rouge.”
The Red Bull driver discussed the raceday and went on to mention, “We didn't give much easy, it was a good battle. It was rewarding that it worked okay, but it takes two guys to get it right. You can do it with Fernando - he is a world class guy and knows
when enough is enough.”
The 35-year-old driver had a very close fight with Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in most of the part of the Belgium race. He also made the most bold overtaking move of the season during the Grand Prix, when Fernando Alonso rejoined the track after his pitstop
and Webber overtook him at Eau Rouge.
Both the team drivers Sebastian Vettel and Webber made a lot of struggle on the sets of medium and soft tyres by Pirelli and finally, they finished their 2011 Belgium Grand Prix at the top and second places respectively.
Recently, Webber signed a contract with Red Bull for the 2012 F1 season’s races. After that, he impressed his team in the Belgium Grand Prix by taking podium position.
Let’s see whether Red Bull team keep their momentum in the remainder of the season or not following the Belgium race weekend success.
