Mark Webber says Red Bull is just a drinks company but will strive for Victory – Formula 1
Mark Webber has hit back at Lewis Hamilton’s view about Red Bull and said that although Red Bull is just a drink, it will strive for victory in the 2011 season. He further mentioned his teams aims and said that both Championships, constructor and driver,
will be targeted.
Lewis Hamilton of McLaren said a couple of days ago that Red Bull is just a drink and will not overcome the Formula 1 arena when sporting giants like Ferrari and McLaren are present. Hamilton said, “I am 100 per cent certain that neither McLaren nor Ferrari
will ever let that happen, they [Red Bull] have not been there as long as our teams. Our teams have got status they would like to keep.” He further added that Red Bull did knock out every team last year to claim both titles, but this season will be a fight
for them to regain titles.
Mark Webber however thinks that even if Red Bull is just a drink, it has all the necessary material to become a champion team. Webber said, “Well, we're just a drinks company in the end. We had a pretty good season last year, so I hope we can build on that,
but we've some sensational rivals.” Talking about the 2011 season, Webber said that the target will be to capture both championship titles.
Red Bull are the only championship team who has had to pay for their engine, whereas all the other teams including Ferrari, McLaren-Mercedes and Mercedes, use their own engines. Red bull’s engines are now sponsored by Infinity.
Red Bull’s RB7 was the fastest car in the 2011 pre-season testing. Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, despite having an arch rivalry with Sebastian Vettel, said that the RB7 is the fastest car of 2011. McLaren on the other hand are looking completely down and out
of the 2011 championship hunt as their car is the most unreliable on the grid.
The season starts in Melbourne on Sunday and it will be interesting to see who gives Red Bull a fight to the podium.
