Mark Webber secures pole position for the 2011 German Grand Prix
Red Bull Racing Team is at it again as Mark Webber secured the team’s 10th pole position of the 2011 Formula 1 season at the German Grand Prix.
The team currently has a perfect pole position score for this year and it seems that beating them in qualifying is near impossible for both Ferrari and McLaren.
Both Ferrari and McLaren are closing in on them though in terms of pace as Lewis Hamilton surprisingly knocked in a great lap in his final run to secure the 2nd place on the grid for the 10th round of the season.
Hamilton’s time was less than a tenth slower than Webber’s and one can say that Red Bull Racing Team were quite lucky this time as the 2008 world champion seemed like the fastest driver during the closing stages of the session.
Ferrari were looking extremely fast during Q2 and it seemed that Fernando Alonso might take the pole position this time but it seems that Ferrari were not fast enough as he scored the 4th fastest time of the session. Sebastian Vettel on the other
hand scored the 3rd place on the grid as his lap time was over a tenth slower than Webber’s fastest time.
Felipe Massa is going to start the German Grand Prix alongside Alonso in 5th place and he is going to be followed by Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg. The German fans did not get what they wanted as Vettel is not on pole, Rosberg is not in the top 5
and Michael Schumacher was also unable to score a promising performance yet again.
The seven-time former world champion secured his spot for the Q3 round but was unable to beat anyone in that round. He is going to start the race from 10th place behind Vitaly Petrov and Adrian Sutil.
Other than that, Jenson Button is going to start the race from 7th place on the grid disappointingly as well as he just did not seem fast enough yet again throughout the session.
The race is going to be quite exhilarating and this time, Hamilton has a great shot at his second victory of the 2011 Formula 1 season since McLaren are very fast at race starts keeping in mind that he is going to start from row 1 alongside Mark Webber.
