Mark Webber sets fastest time in Final Free Practice session at Spa-Francorchamps – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber set the fastest time in the final Free Practice session at Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Belgium.
Webber, who topped the second Friday Practice session in Belgium on Friday, has kept his momentum in the Practice session three at Spa circuit in the morning.
After the first two Free Practice sessions, all the teams participated in the final Practice session in morning at Spa-Francorchamps. The drivers used the medium and soft tyres during the session and successfully finished their runs with these compounds.
Webber set a fastest time of 2 minutes and 8.988 seconds in Practice session 3. He was closely followed by McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who finished his session at the second place with a gap of 0.058 seconds from Webber.
Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari impressed the Final Free Practice session of the Belgium Grand Prix by finishing his run at the third place ahead of McLaren’s Jenson Button. Button put his team at the fourth place in morning.
After a disappointing first and second Friday Practice sessions, Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel again failed to top the Practice session in the morning at the Spa circuit.
Sebastien Buemi put Toro Rosso at the sixth place behind the current leading driver, Vettel.
Mercedes GP drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher claimed seventh and tenth places in the final Practice session.
Adrian Sutil, who was leading the final practice session in the closing minutes, has finished his run at the eighth place ahead of Renault’s Bruno Senna in the end.
Senna had a great time in morning, as he covered the gap during the practice session. After struggling on the sets of medium and soft tyres, he ended up in the ninth place.
His teammate Petrov had a power steering issue in the afternoon Friday Practice session. After fixing the issue, he finished his final practice session at the 15th position with a gap of 4.302 seconds from Webber.
Both Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso were at the back of the field in the morning session. Alonso only finished 5 laps and ended his session at the 24th place as well.
Let’s see whether Webber secures the pole place for Sunday’s race or not following his strong start in the Belgium race weekend.
