Mark Webber sits out of Monaco GP FP1 as teammate Sebastian Vettel tops timesheets – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team had a mixed first free practice session at Monte Carlo as Mark Webber did not take part in the session at all while his teammate Sebastian Vettel secured the fastest time of the session.
According to the team’s report, the Aussie was unable to take part in the session due to a gearbox problem but the team is hoping to get over this problem before the 2nd free practice session which is going to take place after a couple of hours.
Nevertheless, it has not been revealed yet but it is quite clear that Red Bull Racing Team still has the fastest car as Sebastian Vettel was the fastest driver of the first free practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren was around 7 tenths of a second slower than Sebastian’s pace as a result of which, the 2008 Formula 1 champion’s time was the 5th fastest of the session.
However, it was surprising to see Ferrari alongside Red Bull as Fernando Alonso scored the 2nd fastest time of the session with a time just around a tenth short of the fastest time of the session. Other than that, Felipe Massa was looking pretty
good as well as the Brazilian scored the 4th fastest time of the session just around 2 tenths short of Nico Rosberg’s 3rd fastest time of the session.
Nico’s teammate the 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher on the other hand crashed out of the session unfortunately but ended up as the 10th fastest driver of the session.
Jenson Button had a disappointing session as well as he was around 0.150 seconds slower than his teammate but is hoping to score some pretty good results this weekend.
The Monaco Grand Prix is going to be quite interesting this year with the new rules and regulations and it is going to be interesting to see how each team plans its respective race strategy for the race which will take place this Sunday.
