Mark Webber targets to score competitive points in 2013 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 News
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has expressed that he is targeting to score competitive points in the 2013 German Grand Prix after delivering an inspiring performance in Silverstone.
Webber performed convincingly well in the qualifying of the British GP and managed to secured fourth grid position behind his teammate, Sebastian Vettel. Although, he faced immense problems in the beginning of the race and was
even dropped to 15th place, he showed an incredible pace towards the end and successfully secured second podium finish. Besides, he remained ahead of Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes who scored his second victory of
the season at Silverstone circuit.
The Australian driver has said that he has gained a lot of confidence after attaining competitive result in the preceding race and is now looking forward to perform well in the German GP this weekend. In addition, he said that
he scored his first ever grand prix win in Germany due to which he has a very special affiliation with the Nurburgring.
“My best memory from the Nurburgring, and one of the best of my whole career, has got to be my first Formula One win there in 2009,” Webber said.
“It was such a special day and to win it in the style that we did that day was incredible,” he said.
“I prefer the Nurburgring to Hockenheim; it’s got a bit of character about it, with some old school camber changes and old kerbs. The best part is Turns 5 and 6, the fast left which goes into the tight right,” he added.
At present, he is standing at fifth place in the drivers’ championship with 87 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Rosberg and behind Lewis Hamilton of the Brackley based team. He has performed really well in the season so far and
has secured three podium finishes. However, he has not been able to claim any victory in this year until now.
Let’s see how he performs in the approaching race and whether he will be able to come up to the expectations of his team and fans or not.
