Mark Webber thinks dry weather is crucial for Sebastian Vettel – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has said that dry weather in the remainder of the 2012 Formula 1 season is crucial for his teammate, Sebastian Vettel in the title fight.
Vettel is presently leading the drivers’ championship with 255 points and is 10 points ahead of his major rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Even though, he faced some issues in the opening few races as the Milton Keynes based team struggled with understanding their car’s design due to the change in the rules and regulations by FIA. Nevertheless, he has performed tremendously well in the last
few races and has the most competitive car in the field.
However, the competition is still very tough as the Scarlet team is making relentless efforts to improve the pace of their car so that their star driver, Alonso can challenge the veteran German driver in the remaining two races of the current season.
Furthermore, the Australian driver has said that the dry weather is very important for the defending champion as the Spaniard is very competitive in rainy conditions.
“Sebastian needs dry weather there,” the Australian told Austrian Servus TV this week. “He can also drive in the rain, but Fernando is very strong.”
“And it can be wet in Sao Paulo,” he added. “In Sao Paulo there is always some drama.”
On the other hand, the team principal of Red Bull, Christian Horner said that they are looking forward to deliver their best in the last two rounds of the season and are not going to take anything easy as the rivalry is still very intense.
In addition, he said that they are going to remain aggressive in the final two grands prix and are hoping to win both the drivers’ and the constructors’ championship titles.
“The constructors' [championship] is looking great and hopefully we can score five points over the next two races [to win it]. With the drivers' [championship], as we've seen this weekend, when you're on the edge things can go wrong. We can't take anything
for granted and we need to go to Austin and attack the weekend,” Horner said.
