Mark Webber tops second Free Practice session of 2011 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber secured the fastest time of the second Free Practice session of the 2011 German Grand Prix just a over tenth faster than Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari.
Alonso scored the fastest time of the first free practice session and it seems that the reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel was unable to beat his time both in the first and the second free practice sessions.
Ferrari were looking pretty strong at Nurburgring while McLaren struggled for pace once again. Lewis Hamilton scored the 7th place in the timesheets while Jenson Button secured 11th place.
The two McLaren drivers were unable to score some good results once again and it seems that if they do not secure at least a podium this weekend, they might not have a shot at the titles for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Nevertheless, Felipe Massa scored the 4th fastest time of the session and it seemed that it was more like a two horse race between Ferrari and Red Bull Racing since both of these teams were quite clearly faster than the rest of the pack.
Michael Schumacher scored the 5th place in the timesheets followed by his teammate Nico Rosberg. Both of the Mercedes GP drivers are German and it would be interesting to see how they compete against each other the weekend since it is going to
be their home race.
Sebastian Vettel might be relying on his performance during the qualifying session this weekend as quite clearly, Ferrari are performing much better than the Red Bull during the race.
Nick Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov finished in 8th and 9th places respectively followed by Force India’s Adrian Sutil in 10th.
This weekend is going to be quite interesting especially during the qualifying session as it seems that Ferrari might finally end Red Bull’s dominant, undefeated perfect pole position scoring streak of the 2011 Formula 1 season at the Nurburgring.
Alonso is going to be aiming for the victory once again and if he gets it, then this season will take a different turn altogether.
