Mark Webber vows to “bury the hatchet” and begin a new chapter with the team in 2011
Red Bull driver Mark Webber had a great 2010 Formula 1 season as he finished in 3rd place in the drivers’ standings behind Fernando Alonso who finished in 2nd place in the drivers’ standings. It was a very disappointing end for the
Aussie as he was in a better position to win the title than his teammate Sebastian Vettel at the grand finale of the 2010 season in Abu Dhabi but unfortunately, Mark was unable to secure a sufficient amount of points.
The team had to go through a lot of problems after Sebastian Vettel took out Mark Webber at the Turkish Grand Prix which cost the team a handful of points since Mark was leading the race while Sebastian was right behind him in 2nd place.
Since then, Mark and Sebastian went through a lot of problems and the two “good friends” became more like enemies after that. However, Mark vows to “bury the hatchet” and try his best in 2011.
“The winter has been very good for all of us. Obviously it's very difficult in the middle of the season when the team is achieving some very big things - as we did last year - to tackle and learn about some of the things that went on,” he said at the launch
of the new car.
Mark claimed in the 2010 Formula 1 season that the team was trying to favour Sebastian Vettel over him because of which, he did not get much attention as compared his teammate.
“The way I'm approaching this year is head on again and obviously we'll go out there and try to improve on what I did last year. There are a lot of things I did right last year but there were still some very bad moments. We're not sure where we will be yet
but we're very optimistic that the car will be good,” added the Aussie.
Nevertheless, Webber stated that he will try his best to outrun his teammate and focus on scoring points more in order to gain a healthy advantage over the team’s rivals. He believes that he must begin the new season on a good note unlike his start in 2010.
He is confident about his new car as well and since it has KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) along with movable rear wings in it as well, it is going to be a very interesting season for the team technically.
