Mark Webber wants more noise and power while the FIA wants V4 turbo engines – Formula 1
In a recent interview with Formula 1’s official website, Red Bull driver Mark Webber has stated that he would like to see more speed and noise by the help of 1300 horsepower engines.
Webber gave the reply when asked which innovation of the past he would like to reintroduce to the sport if he had the power. However, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) wants to introduce less power, speed, and noise most of all by introducing
the four cylinder turbo-powered engines to the sport.
“1300 horsepower. Big engines and big noise. That is what fans relate to Formula One,” said Webber.
Mark Webber and most of the other drivers and officials including Formula 1 Management’s Bernie Ecclestone and Ferrari’s president Luca di Montezemolo are against this rule change and according to some recent reports; it has been revealed that these engine
regulations changes are going to be delayed.
Other than that, Webber was asked about his ‘fantasies’ during this interview. He was asked which former champion he would like to see as his teammate if he had a choice.
The Australian driver replied Juan Manuel Fangio and surprisingly, his second pick was his current teammate Sebastian Vettel, who is the current Formula 1 champion.
The two teammates went through a pretty tough time in the team during the 2010 Formula 1 season especially after they collided during the Turkish Grand Prix which cost Mark Webber a victory.
Since then, things have changed for the two drivers and they are now pretty much on the same page but Mark is still struggling to perform at his best while Sebastian is currently performing at his best.
Besides this, Webber also stated that the FIA should reintroduce refuelling because it made racing more unpredictable and exciting. The FIA banned refuelling starting from the 2010 Formula 1 season in order to make the sport more safe and efficient and now,
they are now going to ban V8 engines in order to make the sport ‘greener’ and ‘safer.’
